Joining

How to get a library card

If you live or work in Toyonaka city, or go to school or kindergarten located in Toyonaka city, you can get a library card.Please bring a library card application form to the counter at one of our libraries. You will be issued with a library card there and then.Please bring with you proof of your address, such as your alien registration card, driving licence, student or franked envelope. (Children younger than elementary school age do not need it.)

＊You can use your library card at all Toyonaka City Libraries.
＊Please notify one of our libraries, in case of your losing your library card or changing your address, name,
　telephone number, etc.

Borrowing

How to borrow items

Please bring the items and your library card to the counter.

◆You can borrow up to ten items (books, picture-card shows, magazines, CDs, PR videos, cassettes, movie videos, movie DVDs, etc.) in total for two weeks. (You can borrow a
maximum of four CDs and/or one movie video movie DVD
at one time.)

◆There are some items that you cannot borrow, such as newspapers and reference books.

◆When you want to renew your items:

Please bring the item(s) to the counter by the due date. You can renew in person just once for a further two weeks provided no one else has reserved the item. You have to renew before you return the
item. It is not
possible to renew movie videos movie DVDs.

Returning

How to return the items

◆Please bring the items to the counter by the due date. Please do not put them back to the shelves directly. (You do not need to show your library card.) The items can be retuned to any one of our
libraries. If you have some items overdue, it will be impossible to borrow further items. It will also be
possible that the item(s), which you have placed a reservation for and we hold for you to collect, will be
cancelled.

Return Post (Book drop)

◆Please return the items into the return post when the library is closed.

(The return posts are placed in all the libraries, except for Library Rooms.)

You cannot use the return post when the library is open.

The return post in Hotarugaike Library is not available from 9pm to 8am.

(Please do not return audio-visual items such as CDs into the return post as they are prone to break. In Okamachi, Nobatake ,Higashitoyonaka, Shonai, Senri, Hattori, Takagawa, and Hotarugaike Libraries,
there are
special return posts for audio-visual items.)

＊Library items are shared with everyone. Please take good care of them.

＊Please return the items by the due date.

How to check your loan/reservation status

You can view your loan and reservation status on our website and via the user PCs in our libraries. You can place a reservation as well. You will need a provisional PIN.

Please apply at the counter. (We ask you to bring your library card and identity verification document.)

How to search and place a request

◆You can search for items on Online Public Access Catalog via the user PCs in our libraries.

◆Please see library staff if you cannot find an item you need.

When the item is out on loan, we will give it to those on the waiting list when it is returned. You need to fill in a request form. When you request an item which our libraries do not possess, we
will try to meet your
need, by considering a purchase, borrowing it from other library, eg. a prefectural
library, or introducing you
to other libraries which possess the item you need.

◆You can place a request for up to ten items, including two CDs and one movie video movie DVD.

＊We accept requests for CDs, comic books and magazines, and movie videos, movie DVDs only when we possess the items in our libraries.

Research How to use our reference service

Please feel free to see library staff if you have any question about your daily lives and/or research.

We will make a reply to your enquiry by consulting some material or introducing you to some material. (Please go to 'Reference Room', if you are in Okamachi and Senri Libraries.)

Photocopiers

You can make copies of the items of our libraries, as long as you do not violate copyright.

JPN￥10 per sheet.

＊This service is available in Okamachi, Shonai, Senri, Nobatake, Higashitoyonaka, Hattori, Takagawa, and Hotarugaike Libraries.

Other services

◆Group Loan: We will lend items in bulk to a group of people, such as reading groups, community libraries, or schools in Toyonaka city.

◆World Children's Book Room

In Kids Room in Okamachi Library, we have children's books from a variety of countries. You can borrow them. (Opening hours: 10:00~17:00)

◆Some libraries possess English newspapers and magazines.

◆People with disabilities and/or additional needs

Our libraries offer a range of services to library users living in Toyonaka city and with disabilities, such as mailing and home delivery.

For users who need support in reading small letters, we place magnifiers in Okamachi, Shonai, Senri, Nobatake and Hotarugaike Libraries.

The hearing-impaired can use Loop for Hearing Aid in Shonai, Senri and Hotarugaike Libraries.

◆Book Mobile

For those who live far from our libraries, Book Mobile itinerates to lend you books.

(We visit the stations in Toyonaka city approximately once in a month.)
